Tiramisu is one of the best desserts ever. There are many varieties of tiramisu, but this is an easy tiramisu recipe that doesn't use mascarpone cheese, eggs, or alcohol. Here is how to make easy tiramisu without mascarpone and eggs.
What is Tiramisu?
Tiramisu is a very famous Italian dessert that is made of ladyfingers soaked with espresso and rum, and layered with whipped cream, sugar, eggs, and mascarpone cheese before being topped with cacao powder. However, my version doesn't include mascarpone and eggs.
Tiramisu Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup cold espresso or strong black coffee
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur
- 1 or 2 packages ladyfinger cookies (12-14 cookies depending on your pan)
- ¼ cup cocoa powder for dusting
How to Make Tiramisu Without Eggs and Mascarpone
1. In a bowl, whip the cream with the cream cheese, and sugar with an electric mixer until well combined and stiff peaks form.
2. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
3. In another large bowl, whisk the espresso with the coffee liqueur.
4. Soak the ladyfingers in the espresso mixture and arrange them across the bottom of a baking dish.
5. Spread half of the cream mixture on top in an even layer.
6. Repeat the process with the remaining ladyfingers and cream mixture.
7. Cover the top with cacao powder.
8. Chill the tiramisu for 3 hours or ideally overnight.
Does Tiramisu Have Nuts?
No, original tiramisu doesn't have any kind of nuts, but you can find many tiramisu versions that include nuts. If I use nuts in tiramisu, I prefer to crush the nuts until they are a fine powder so I can sprinkle them on top of the tiramisu instead of cacao. However, you can also add the nuts into the filling mixture.
Can Kids Eat Tiramisu?
Well, it depends on what ingredients you use in the tiramisu. Of course, you shouldn't give tiramisu that has rum or espresso in it to a child, but you can make tiramisu without alcohol and you can use lightly brewed coffee instead of espresso. Alternatively, you can replace the coffee with another a mixture of hot water and cacao or milk. So in the end, yes, kids can eat tiramisu but only tiramisu that doesn't include espresso and alcohol.
How Long Does Tiramisu Last in the Fridge?
Tiramisu can last in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Can I Freeze Tiramisu?
Tiramisu can be frozen for up to 3 months. Wrap the tiramisu in a double layer of plastic wrap and a layer of aluminum foil before freezing it.

I made this for family members that love Tiramisu and they devoured this and told other people about it so I was asked to make it for them now and they loved it too; a cycle of deliciousness! I made it GF by using Schaar Gluten Free Ladyfingers (1 package). We find Gluten Free ladyfingers easily get soggy and start to disintegrate so we barely dipped these in the coffee on just one side and it worked great for us, texture-wise. Thank you for sharing such an amazing recipe that sounds so fancy and tastes scrumptious while secretly being one of the easiest desserts to make. This is getting saved and will be made again and again.
